Communications and Administration Unit

The Unit is the heart of the clubhouse! Among its duties are manning the reception desk and the internal communications of the clubhouse. Members, staff and visitors are welcomed at the reception. A cheerful look and smile from the member behind the desk gives a good start for the working day and sends members and visitors home in a nice mood. In addition, the reception desk has a telephone exchange through which calls are directed to the required person or unit. The Unit is responsible for Reach-Out for its members and produces the weekly leaflet and the Sopimusvuori association leaflet, and is in charge of updating the clubhouse website.

10-16 members per day work in the Unit with one staff member. In the task assignments at 9 am and 1 pm the members are given their tasks and responsibilities. The reception desk must be manned for the whole day, members taking one hour shifts at it. Other tasks are chosen by the members according to the urgency of the task and the members’ own interests. There is always some work for everyone during the day. The ever-popular cleaning tasks, both in the office and in the toilets, are the highlights of the task assignment!

The task assignment is overseen by the staff member or by one of the members. The aim is to get the members to do their assigned tasks in pairs or groups. In charting rehabilitation at the clubhouse the weakness of social skills experienced by members has been remarkable, and this is how we strive to improve these skills. In addition to the duties of the Unit, many of its members participate in the leisure activities committee, making the clubhouse magazine, the Info-group, the ABC of Transitional Employment and other general clubhouse activities.

An important part of the duties of the Unit is taking care of the clubhouse finances; balancing the day’s cash and other tasks involving monetary transactions. The Unit also looks after the plants in the building and makes and sells the lunch tickets.
